VIP Room Owners’ Guide:
Being a VIP room owner on Diamond Secrets means more than adding a name to the room list. You are creating a community space, welcoming its visitors, setting its tone, and helping keep it safe.
This guide brings together everything you need to know about creating and managing your room—from choosing guest access and uploading an icon to appointing staff, handling disruptive users, and promoting your community.
Who can create a VIP room?
You need to be a Diamond Secrets VIP member to create and administer your own room. VIP status gives you access to room creation, custom room icons, welcome topics, staff management, and room moderation tools.
Diamond Secrets offers complimentary VIP features to active, trusted community members. If you are interested in becoming a VIP, read VIP Benefits and VIP Features Explained. Active members can also ask staff in chat or check their account menu for an in-app VIP application option.
How to create your room
Creating a room takes only a few steps:
- Open the top-left menu (the burger icon).
- Select Room List.
- Tap + Add room at the top of the list.
- Enter a room name.
- Choose whether to allow guests or limit access to registered members.
- Add an optional password and description.
After creating the room, you can update its name, password, description, image or icon, guest access, and staff ranks at any time. Open the top-left menu, select the gear beside your room, and choose Settings. You do not need to start over or lose your room’s position on the list, provided the room stays active.
Choose who can enter
Your room can welcome guests or be restricted to registered members. You can change this choice later in the room settings as your community grows.
For a private space, set or change a password under Settings, reached through the gear beside your room in the left menu. Share the password only with people you trust. Room moderators do not automatically gain access to password-protected rooms, but room admins can be granted access through their staff permissions.
To invite people, ask them to open the Room List and search for your room name. You may also mention the room in main chat when it is appropriate. Send passwords privately rather than posting them in public.
Give your room a recognizable identity
A clear room icon and a warm welcome make your space easier to recognize and more inviting.
To change the room icon:
- Open the top-left menu.
- Tap the gear beside your room name.
- Choose Settings.
- Use the first option to upload or delete the room icon.
A clear image that works well in a square format will display best in the room list.
Add a Welcome Topic
The Welcome Topic is the green banner members see when they enter. As the room owner, enter this command in your room and replace the sample wording with your own:
/topic Welcome %user% to [your room name and welcome message]
The %user% placeholder personalizes the greeting for the person entering. To change the topic, enter /topic again with the new message. To remove it, enter /topic with nothing after it, or use the room’s supported clear behavior.
Your Welcome Topic can include a direct image link from a host such as ImgBB or Imgur. The URL must begin with https:// and end in .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, or .png. For a full-width banner effect, an image around 1500 × 500 pixels is recommended, although square and other image shapes also work. The topic text wraps and the layout adapts to each member’s screen.
Supported YouTube links may also appear in a Welcome Topic. Keep music, volume, and media content suitable for your room’s audience and within the community rules.
Build your room staff team
Room owners can appoint moderators and admins to help welcome members and manage conversations.
While inside your room:
- Open the top-right menu.
- Search for the member.
- Select Action → Room → Change Rank.
- Choose the appropriate rank.
The available levels are:
- User: Standard room access.
- Room Moderator (blue): Can mute members and delete posts.
- Room Admin (yellow): Can mute members, block them from the room, and delete posts.
Choose the least powerful role that gives each helper the tools they need. To change or remove a staff rank later, open the top-left menu, tap the gear beside the room, and select Manage Staff.
Clear chat and handle disruptive users
Two commands control how room chat history is cleared:
- Enter /clear to wipe the room chat for everyone.
- Enter /clean to clear only the chat shown on your own screen without affecting anyone else.
To mute or block a member, select the person in your room or use Search user → Action → Room. Choose mute or block, then select a duration. You can also block somebody who is not currently present: search for the member while you are inside your own room, then apply the room action.
VIP room owners may block a member without stating a reason, but decisions should remain fair and consistent with site rules.
Your room still follows the community rules
All Diamond Secrets community rules apply inside VIP rooms. Rooms created for illegal activity or serious violations may be closed, and the owner may face account action. The site guidelines and chat etiquette guide can help you set clear expectations for visitors.
Owners are expected to moderate reasonably and report serious problems to site staff. Ignoring illegal content or repeated harassment can affect both the room and the owner’s account. Use your moderation tools, explain the room’s expectations in its topic or description, and ask site staff for help when a situation needs additional support.
Global Moderators cannot be blocked from a VIP room when they are responding to a report or enforcing site policy. Outside those duties, they should be invited like any other guest. Cooperation and courtesy between room owners and site staff help resolve problems quickly.
Keep your room active—or let it close
An active room remains on the room list as long as somebody visits occasionally. If nobody enters for seven days, the room is automatically removed for inactivity. Even entering and leaving counts as activity, and any new visit resets the seven-day timer.
There is no instant self-service delete option described in the room controls. To retire a room, you can rename it, protect it with a password, and then leave it unused until the inactivity period ends. Do not re-enter it during that time, since doing so restarts the timer.
Promote your room responsibly
Room promotion works best when it clearly and honestly tells members what they can expect. For promotion on the News Wall, the blog, or other community boards, prepare a short description and an ad image. Featured promotions normally require an image. Community members may be able to help with artwork, although the site team does not create individual room advertisements.
You can share updates through the Diamond Drops Blog and participate in community spaces linked from chat. The general FAQs and community events page are useful starting points when deciding where to post.
Giveaways involving gold or VIP should include a clear disclaimer so members understand what is—and is not—an official Diamond Secrets promotion.
In-room advertising, banners, giveaways, scheduled promotions, and cross-room shout-outs must follow site policy and should feel welcoming rather than spammy. Before launching an in-room campaign, contact Loess or Jenn in chat. They can explain what is allowed and advise you about timing, artwork, and any disclaimer you may need. For a non-urgent question, use Contact Support.
Can room ownership be transferred?
There is currently no self-service ownership transfer button. If you need to hand your room to another trusted VIP member, contact Loess, Jenn, or site support. Staff can help protect the room’s community and preserve its staff setup through the change.
A quick checklist for VIP room owners
Before welcoming members, make sure you have:
- Chosen whether guests or only registered members may enter.
- Added a clear name, description, and square-friendly icon.
- Set a password if the room should be private.
- Written a friendly /topic message for new arrivals.
- Appointed only the moderators and admins you trust.
- Explained the room’s expectations and reviewed the site rules.
- Planned fair moderation and a way to contact site staff when needed.
- Prepared an honest description, image, and disclaimer for any promotion.
- Visited at least once every seven days if you want the room to remain listed.
Your room can be as relaxed, lively, private, or event-focused as your community needs. Give members a clear welcome, choose your staff carefully, and stay present as a host. With those basics in place, your VIP room can become a memorable home within Diamond Secrets.

PhoenixJenn (aka Symphony) is the founder of Diamond Secrets — the 18+ chat community she built from scratch because the internet needed a place that actually felt worth staying in. Part platform builder, part community guardian, part music obsessive, she handles everything from tech and design to cyber safety and community culture, which means no two days look the same.
She’s been building online communities for years and genuinely cares about getting it right — which is why Diamond Secrets keeps growing while other chat sites quietly fade away. Safety is baked in from the start here, not bolted on as an afterthought, and the warm atmosphere isn’t an accident either. That’s all her.
If Diamond Secrets feels like a hidden gem worth telling your friends about, that’s entirely on purpose.
